Image Optimisation for your website

image_optimisation.jpg

We base our entire site design on photos, we love using images to emphasise our message. We need to optimise these images to load fast on any device which we do.

  • Any web page needs to load before 5 seconds, the slowest would be around 7 seconds. Images have a huge influence on the page load speed.

  • We optimise and create images for 7 different screen sizes, from 23” down to 14” diameter, yes -  different images for different media.

  • Each image needs to stay under 500KB to ensure fast page loading.

  • Special software and expertise allows us shrink the size of images without sacrificing their quality.

One question I am asked over and over again by clients, that like to be in charge of adding their own images to their website:
What software should I use to optimise my image?

    Here are my suggestions:

Photoshop Elements 2020

Easy photo editing software by Adobe. You do not need the big and expensive brother Adobe Photoshop to be able to work on your images. Spend less than $200 NZD and you will save time and headache to get a great result.

The best feature is that the software offers lots of automated features, or you can apply changes manually.

JPEGmini

This software is a little gem, if you need te quickly reduce the file size of your images.

Get the smallest image file size without compromising quality or changing your workflow. You can upload Hi-Res photos faster, save tons of hard drive space, improve customer viewing experience and make your website faster.

The free version allows you to optimise up to 20 images a day, the full version is very reasonable to purchase.
